Local Lifestyle

With 350 days of sunshine, Palm Springs can be thoroughly explored and enjoyed virtually every day of the year. Taking a stroll or bike ride through any neighborhood here is a veritable architecture tour, where mid-century designs inspire the interiors and fashion. The locals enjoy some of the most exquisite dining and interesting shopping experiences imaginable, and with its perfect weather, the area also holds unlimited access to outdoor recreation.

Dining, Entertainment & Shopping

Locals know to take any opportunity to stop at the Desert Hills Premium Outlets on their way in and out of town; from Dior and Prada to Frette and Valentino, even those with the finest tastes have it all, here! For something to sate the young inner rebel, you might even enjoy dining at  Spencers for its classic service and comfort food. . Be sure to also frequent Hadley Fruit Orchards, on your way in or out of Palm Springs.  You’ll find all the gourmet foodstuffs you could need, plus some you didn't!

When you’ve worked up an appetite, enjoy the tasting menu of Workshop Kitchen & Bar. Their wine pairings are uniquely inspired, and the highly varied fare is genuinely decadent — especially when enjoyed in their charmingly cozy designer seating booths. Soho House is opening 2023 and will for sure be the spot to be seen.

You’ll also love the calm and swanky speakeasy atmosphere of Bar Cecil, where the music and service are right on the mark and just the right level to ensure you are equally well accommodated and comfortable in your own entourage’s vibe. The bar is a homage to one Cecil Beaton, a historical personage who supported Expressionism and incorporated innumerable mediums into his style.

For something different, visit Gabinos Creperie. The window-nook service provides the most unforgettable crepe sandwich, and many delightedly state it’s the best they’ve ever had.

Things to Do

Architecture buffs look forward to Palm Springs’ 11-day Modernism Week event, which features over 350 events and provides enlightening tours of the area’s most iconic homes and structures. Music and art lovers are also sure to get a never-ending thrill out of the area’s generous portions of cultural amenities, including the Palm Springs International Film Festival and Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, the latter of which now includes immersive art installations along with their expansive roster of world-class music acts. Sports fans gather at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden for the BNP Paribas Open to watch the world’s greatest tennis champions face off for one of the sport’s most coveted titles.

However, you won’t need to wait for annual events to enjoy the Palm Springs festivities. A case in point is the certified  Farmers Market at 2300 East Baristo, where you’ll see the community strength in action every Saturday morning. Be sure to bring cash as you peruse the area’s finest locally grown honey and produce and some of the area’s finest ranch-raised meats and local wines.
