What is your favorite brunch spot in New York?
Jack’s Wife Freida. I love their Madame Freda sandwich with duck prosciutto and how whimsical the brand is with their logo and menu designs.
-
New York is known for its unique energy—how does that vibe influence your art or creative process?
I love all the movement of bodies and the different paces they take. Also all the colors those bodies in motion give off. It had definetly influences some of my pieces.
-
Are there specific neighborhoods or spots in the city that hold a special place in your heart or spark your creativity?
I love the Brownstones in Dumbo with a clear view of Manhattan. To be able to see that skyline so easily sounds like a dream.
-
What’s one thing you think everyone should experience at least once in New York, especially as an artist?
I think everyone should expienece a broadway play at least once as an artist. My mom used to take me once a year when I was little and I believe that experienced really shaped who I am today.
-
Do you have any favorite hidden gems in New York, like small galleries, parks, or cafes, that fuel your inspiration?
The Peninsula Rooftop Bar. Im doubt it’s a hidden gem but I would really like to push more locals going to hotel bars. They are so beautiful.
-
What’s a New York experience or memory that has left a lasting impression on you?
I met my boyfriend at this brand’s holiday party and our first date ended up lasting the whole day because New York City never sleeps. I don’t think I would have been able to have such a long date at any other city where I can get a pizza slice at 2am.
-
If you had to capture the essence of New York in a single artwork, what elements would you include?
I feel like I did with my busy street pattern I used for my coats. Its an aerial view of people walking the streets of NYC and from far way it looks like camouflage
-
Did you always want to be an artist?
I did not start wanting to be an artist until my second year of college when I started painting. It is never too late to start
