What keeps you motivated?
I love to work and I love to see the impact of sharing essential, life-changing information with an audience. Our team has a newsletter that goes out 6 mornings a week and it features all kinds of stories, from health and wellness to news of the day. I think journalism is a public service and I wake up every day excited to learn more. Is that lame? Lol (PS, sign up here!)
What is your favorite indulgence?
I think a good massage is the best gift someone can give you.
What room in the house do you think is the most important?
I love cooking, especially in the summer, and my girls and I have so much fun dancing to Taylor Swift while whipping up tomato and mozzarella, grilled branzino, corn on the cob, and a fresh salad with ingredients from my garden. They say the kitchen is the heart of a home and I agree!
What's your guilty pleasure regarding TV shows or movies you enjoy watching in your downtime?
Sex and the City will forever be my comfort show. Even though I've seen every episode a million times, I'll never get tired of seeing Carrie, Samantha, Miranda, and Charlotte sitting around the table at brunch, gabbing it up.
What's your go-to comfort food when you're looking to unwind and relax?
Always a chocolate chip cookie!
The country you are longing to visit this year?
My husband John and I are in the midst of planning a trip to Argentina. Any recs?
What is your favorite lunch spot in Los Angeles?
Gosh... It has to be Gjelina. How can you beat the food and ambiance?
|
What is your secret weapon?
My ability to memorize information in record time.
Can you share a funny or quirky behind-the-scenes moment from your career that always makes you smile?
One time one of my guests was sitting down into his chair before an interview at the TODAY show and I noticed he had only buttoned the top button of his shirt. I spared him the embarrassment of being topless on national TV!
What is your favorite hotel in Los Angeles?
It's always fun to stay at Sunset Tower, or the Maybourne in Beverly Hills!
What are your favorite linens/ bedding?
What is the most difficult part of your profession?
I have met so many incredible people over the last 30 years who have been through heartbreaking, traumatic experiences. Telling their stories is a tremendous responsibility and I always want to do it honestly and sensitively.
What are you reading now?
What has been your favorite discovery in Los Angeles in the past 5 years?
I love taking long walks through the Flats. The houses are so beautiful, the streets are so wide and each lined with a different type of tree.
Do you have any unusual talents or hobbies that people might be surprised to learn about?
I can play piano by ear, which is a fun party trick!
Your podcast has become a platform for in-depth conversations. How do you choose your podcast guests and topics, and what kind of impact do you hope to achieve with this medium?
I choose guests that interest me and hope it will interest our audience too. From Jonathan Van Ness to Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Quinta Brunson, and Melanie Lynskey, we feature a wide range of personalities with different life experiences.

If you could choose any historical figure to have a dinner party with, who would you invite and why?
Hmm... Right now I would love to have dinner with President Obama to hear what he was to say about the state of our democracy, polarization, and how to combat the misinformation that is running rampant in this country.
Your interviewing style is known for its warmth and ability to connect with interviewees. How do you establish that rapport and create an environment where people feel comfortable sharing their stories?
I think being genuinely curious about what someone has to say is key in making them feel comfortable. If the person can tell you're in a rush or you have an agenda, the conversation won't flow as naturally and their answers won't be authentic. I also think that being over-prepared is crucial in feeling equipped to ask the right questions and making the other person feel valued.
Most importantly, who is your favorite Real Estate agent in Los Angeles?!?!?! 💁♀️

I recently had the pleasure of being taken to lunch at Hilo Sushi in Beverly Hills by a favorite fellow agent, and the experience was nothing short of extraordinary. If you know me, you know fine Japanese food is my weakness and passion.
From the moment I walked in, I was struck by the restaurant's chic and contemporary design. The elegant Japanese-inspired decor, featuring warm wood accents and subtle lighting, creates an intimate and welcoming atmosphere. Whether you're dining with friends, family, or a special someone, Hilo Sushi sets the perfect stage for a memorable meal. You can choose from Omakase A or Omakase B, for lunch or dinner at the sushi bar. If you want to order from the menu, booking a table is the way to go.
Hilo is a master! He made our dining experience truly exceptional. From offering expert recommendations to explaining the nuances of each dish, he went above and beyond to ensure we felt welcomed and well-informed throughout the meal. It probably didn’t hurt that my dining companion was close friends with him! He taught me something about my beloved Uni that I was unaware of. Let’s say I'm only eating Uni with Hilo now. Each piece of sushi was prepared with precision and dedication to quality. Come hungry as each piece keeps getting better.
Although we were too full to indulge in dessert, we didn’t want the meal to end, so we had Hilo’s insane Matcha Tea. WHAT DID HE DO TO IT?? I can not tell you, but it will be the best you have ever tasted.
Hilo Sushi in Beverly Hills is more than just a restaurant; it's an experience. With its impeccable ambiance, attentive service, and exquisite cuisine, it's a culinary journey that should not be missed. Whether you're a sushi aficionado or simply looking for an exceptional dining experience, Hilo Sushi exceeds all expectations. This hidden gem in Beverly Hills has certainly earned its place on my list of favorite dining spots, and I can't wait to return for another unforgettable meal.
